Chapter 12 Cut off Her Retreat
"True, you are not emancipated, and I will not have a comfortable life!"
Closing her eyes and leaning on the copilot's seat, Lori couldn't help huddling herself.
She felt a shiver all over her body.
But she hadn't expected Clifford to cut off her retreat so thoroughly.
The car drove to Louvre City, the most expensive property in Winston City. Lori owned a house here. Back then, when she learned Clifford had a house here, she also purchased one and just stayed there a couple of times. To her surprise, Clifford lived in this place.
He dragged Lori into the elevator, and her body trembled slightly with the jumping digits.
Like that night, she watched the rising number of the floor and slid down little by little on the floor...
When she was alone, she didn't dare to take the elevators. No matter how late when her shift was over, and no matter how tall the floor was, she'd rather take the stairs down by herself.
"What's wrong?"
Clifford's eyebrow furrowed. What trick was the woman playing again?
"Nothing!"
She didn't know if it was because she drank a cup of coffee in the afternoon or accidentally ate something spicy at dinner, but her stomach was churning. There were frequent social parties recently, and she had to drink wine. Her stomach was upset already. Tonight, however, she was forced to gulp down a large goblet of wine!
Stepping out of the elevator, Clifford took out the room card and pushed Lori into the house.
The room was pitch black, and Lori closed her eyes out of instinct.
Following a flip, the room was lit up instantly.
Before she could glance around the room, she was pressed to the wall, and her lips were kissed fiercely.
The taste of blood spread from her lips into her mouth. In pain, she frowned, and her cat's eyes were filled with distress...
He was humiliating her again!
"Well, shall we seriously talk about divorce now?"
Lori panted and covered her chest, "Heh, you'd better clean up the mess outside. Don't let me cover you up every time!"
"Cover me up?" He narrowed his slanted eyes and kissed her again.
Their battlefield changed from the living room to the bedroom...
"How about it? Did any other man treat you like this?"
Lori bit her lip tightly and kept her eyes closed the whole time. She was afraid... of his scornful eyes when he treated her like those cheap lovers.
After the tide of passion fell, Clifford took a bath and got in while tying his bathrobe's straps. An ambiguous scent permeated the bedroom. At the sight of Lori curling up under the quilt on the bed, he frowned, walked up, and shook her shoulder.
"Hey, hey..."
When Clifford reached out to pull the woman out of the quilt, a hoarse voice came out.
"You vented it out? Are you satisfied?"
Huh? Was she crying?
"Lori, you pushed it! You forced the marriage!"
"Get out!" With her remaining strength, Lori abruptly lifted the quilt and roared!
Widening his eyes in anger, Clifford panted. The air in the room was suffocating!
The door was slammed shut.
Propping herself up, she wrapped herself in a blanket, got off the bed on trembling legs, and walked towards the bathroom.
The floor was damp, and there was a little moist warmth in the air.
Standing in front of the mirror, Lori looked at the battered self and forced a mere bitter smile.
Did she push it? Heh, yeah, on the grand wedding without the groom, she faced the scornful gazes of those guests and relatives but still toughed it out. She pushed it to get all of these!
She took the wide bracelet encrusted with diamonds off her wrist, unveiling bulging white scars deep and shallow.
On their wedding night, she received a phone call.
A familiar voice came from the other end. He was calling another woman by her name and said he loved her repeatedly. Their gasps overturned her sanity completely.
When the blade cut down, she didn't feel any pain.
She lost her consciousness and knew not how she survived!
