Chapter 13 Trying to Steal from Him
After coming out of the bedroom, Clifford pulled on a set of clothes and then went downstairs.
It was only eight o'clock, and the nightlife just started!
Standing by the artificial lake down the building, he held a cigarette between his fingers and put the other hand in his pants pocket. On the ground scattered a few cigarette butts, and he kicked them into the lake one by one. The scene still didn't relieve his annoyance.
She had been back for about ten days but never been home.
Although he knew that she was staying at Clark's house, he was her husband. Couldn't she feel the obligation as a wife?
When he thought she was probably calling a strange man that night, the anger within him was blazing. Drawing the hand out of the pocket, he rubbed his forehead and felt helpless about the subtle sensation under his palm.
The scar was a result of a car accident. Back then, he was hospitalized for days, and she was keeping him company at the sickbed. She told him jokes, stories and tended to his every need.
He couldn't understand how the lively and cute girl came to this. He also didn't expect her tough and venomous heart under her innocent appearance!
If it was not for her, Hermione wouldn't have left him!
He proposed marriage just because she was a better option, but when everyone heard the news, he met that tender and quiet woman.
He wanted to bring happiness to that woman!
She advised him not to fail Lori profusely. He also felt sorry for Lori and thought of various ways to compensate her after he was with Hermione. But what did she do? Secretly she drove Hermione away!
While he thought about it, his headache grew stronger!
Taking a deep drag, he threw the cigarette butt on the ground and stubbed it out. He was just ready to light another one, only to find an empty package.
He crumbled it and listened to the rustle of the hard package crumpling into a ball. Forcefully he waved his hand and hurtled it out when a parabola slashed the air.
Raising his head, he glanced at the lights of his house, mused for a moment, and then went back home.
He opened the bedroom door but didn't find the woman. The light in the bathroom was on.
At the thought of the gauze around her leg, Clifford rushed to the bathroom.
Damn it, didn't she know her wound shouldn't contact with water?
As soon as the bathroom door was opened, Clifford was struck dumb!
...
Four hours later, in Winston Hospital.
Clifford stood outside the ward in his home wear, his eyebrows knitted. He felt a little guilty to see the woman lying in bed.
According to the doctor, she had a history of stomach problems. Spicy food or wine was not good to her, but tonight he took her milk and handed her a large goblet of wine!
When he pushed open the bathroom door, she saw the woman lying on the floor with a pale face. At that moment, he felt his eyes tingling.
The mortality rate of gastrorrhagia was 8%-13.7%. Apparently, this was not the first time the illness attacked!
Clifford turned around, walked to the exit passageway, fumbled in his pants pocket, and then remembered his cigarettes already ran out when he was at the lake.
Leaning against the wall, he looked up at the ceiling, closed his eyes, and rubbed his face mightily!
The moment when he learned about Hermione's departure, he was anxious to kill her! On their wedding day, he went to other places to search for Hermione. Since she wanted the marriage so much, he would grant her wish. But the groom was destined to be absent from the wedding ceremony.
But... when he saw her lying on the floor, his heart seemed to be pricked.
He basically watched her grow up, but why was she so stubborn? And why did he torture her so cruelly?
He turned back and walked to the ward. To his surprise, he met the man whom he saw at the hospital parking lot the other day.
After seeing him pushing open the door and entering the ward, Clifford trotted over. He didn't forget his conversation with Lori the other day.
Was he stealing from him? He was too naive!
