Chapter 15 Parents' Meeting

Simona chuckled, "Tracy, my second aunt has found me a rich husband."

Tracy was baffled and anxious, "Poor girl, you're still in a mood to joke? You didn't answer my calls nor return my messages. I wondered if you were locked up by your second aunt and wanted to go to your home for you."

She knew that Simona's second aunt was sadistic. Her second uncle and aunt were also not good people.

Simona took out her cell phone from her pocket, "I forgot to tell you my new number."

"You got a new phone?" Tracy was surprised.

"Mm, my husband bought it for me. It's the latest model and able to take clear pictures of the moon in the sky, heh heh."

"Simona..." Tracy was not in a mood for jokes.

"Don't worry, I'm okay."

Simona recounted everything that happened in the past few days.

Tracy was struck dumb.

After quite a while, she finally came to her senses, "Since you already know that man is using you, you still will marry him? When your value is gone, what if he would divorce you?"

Simona mused and mumbled, "Divorce..."

Did she need to consider divorce before the marriage?

Nathan's face crossed her mind.

He was cold and sedate, but in her mind, no other faces were better looking than his in this world.

He held her to receive the injection, coaxed her not to cry, and fed her medicine in person...

Even if these were all fake, Simona believed that no other men would do such things for her.

"Divorce then."

"I think this matter..."

"Tracy, I've thought it over, so don't try to talk me out of it."

Tracy felt worried, "There's just one month to go before the college entrance exam. Simona, what's your plan? You've been in high school for so many years and cannot be like this forever, right?"

Simona seemingly already got a plan in her mind, "Certainly, I'll not continue."

Even the exam was happening now, she was confident that she would be enrolled by the best university in North City.

At her age, she should have been in her sophomore year.

To slacken the vigilance and hostility of Sam Family members, she had feigned for so many years and wasted so much time.

But in the end, she still hadn't found any evidence of her father's murder.

Some things weren't as easy as they seemed.

"When I marry Nathan and find out the truth, I won't have to feign dumb again."

"I'll go to college this year!"

Tracy patted the back of Simona's hand gently, "Simona, your second aunt and the other will get their retribution."

"I hope it won't come too late." Simona slightly cast her eyes down.

She recalled the past...

When she was about five, six years old, she had a sudden fever one night. Her father held her and comforted her that the doctor would arrive soon.

She lay in a dim small room, but it was Lucy rather than the doctor who came.

Back then, Edward and Lucy hadn't been married long. Before marriage, Lucy was a nurse.

She saw it clearly it was Lucy who gave her a fever-reducing shot, and the thin, sharp needle thrust into her arm.

Her fever subdued the following day.

But when she opened her mouth to speak... she kept repeating the same words and couldn't finish a complete sentence.

She became a stammerer.

Her father took her to the hospital, but the doctor said it was common and her condition would improve gradually.

Then whenever she got sick, it was Lucy who gave her injections, medication, and guarded by her bed to take care of her day in and day out.

"Simona?"

Tracy called her twice before Simona snapped back to her senses, "Mm, what?"

"The head teacher said yesterday that a parents' meeting would be held this Friday. What are you gonna do?"

"Oh, parents' meeting." Simona didn't care.

Every year the parents of the seniors would attend meetings. The topic was about the situation that year and issues about filling in their applications for college.

For the previous meetings, including the parents' meetings for new semesters, Simona attended them herself.

She had been criticized by her teacher many times for her family's lack of care for her study.

Since the teacher knew about the condition of her family and herself, she didn't fuss over it.

Simona signed, "Do I have a choice? I'll attend it myself this time, too."
